Martin Hsu is such a sweetheart! So I met him yesterday at the San Francisco Kid Robot store on Haight, and I was so nervous to meet him. I was getting butterflies, and I was flushed red, and his friend was like, “Just say hi, he’s a nice guy. I’m sure he’d like to speak with you, you’re cute, too.” And I immediately responded with a yelp, and “NOPE.” “Martin, isn’t she cute?” He responded with, “She’s adorable.”
So she brings me over to where he’s sitting, and she’s like “Martin, you have a fan here who would like to speak with you.” At this point, I thought I was going to combust into flames.
"Hi, I’m Martin! What’s your name." "Millie!" "It’s great to meet you, Millie. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet you. Have we actually met before? You seem familiar." "I don’t believe so, it’s my first time." "Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Millie." I paused, and I said it was a pleasure to meet him as well, and I asked him if he could sketch on my Trikky.
So he took his time to do a spontaneous sketch, and after he completed it, he thanked me, and I thanked him, and we talked for another good ten minutes. He told me to keep in contact with him, and I said I would, and we snapped a few more pictures and bid each other farewell.
I’m so happy I got to meet him. He’s such a sweet person, and a talented artist. I hope I run into him again!
If you’re not sure who he is, he was the 2006-2008Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, Character/Prop/FX Designer for Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
